Cheese and The Accident Of Creativity
Cheese was a beautiful mistake
Cheese is awesome, and anyone who thinks so is probably out of their mind.
There’s a “myth” that cheese was invented accidentally. I use quotations because people say cheese wasn’t invented like this, but I like the story and how it ties into creativity.
If you’re familiar with history, you know that there used to be nomadic herders bringing camels, sheep, cows, goats, and other beasts of burden with them on their journeys. There still are many nomadic herders today.
The myth goes that while these nomads were on their travels, they tied milk under the mammal’s stomach, and with the heat, time, rennet (from the stomach), and movement of the animal, cheese was created.
Even if this story may not be true, it’s still a great analogy for creativity and invention.
The way I view these nomadic herders is that they were “in the field.” What I mean by this is they were working on their craft and mastering their lifestyle; they ended up inventing something that changed humanity forever.
Who would’ve thought that a glob of rennet from a mammal’s stomach can be used to make cheese! Based on this myth, the fact that cheese was invented is a miracle.
When we go even further, you realize that the fact that anything is created is a miracle. Creativity is a miracle in and of itself!
The fact that anything can be created should absolutely blow you away. Do not take this for granted.
Life has cheese, elephants, bees, cigars, books, maple trees, philosophies, honey, tables, computers, and so much more! These things are all creativity. The potential for creativity and creative contribution is infinite.
The mark of an intelligent life is the ability to play infinite games, and creativity is one of those infinite games.
The insight I’m attempting to give you here is to be creative and take risks! You will eventually figure something out.
Cheese was invented by accident through living life on purpose. The fact that cheese was invented should inspire the fuck out of you.
Imagine all of the things you can create if you truly begin to take life seriously.
When I decided to take contribution seriously I created my first documentary on growing tobacco!
What does it mean to take life seriously? It simply means not to take it for granted. Especially if you live in a first-world country and are somewhat conscious, you have no excuses.
It actually hurts my soul when I see people just consuming and not being the creative human beings that they are. So much suffering and pain comes from not being creative.
In our modern life, the potential to contribute to mankind is so amazing because no one is stopping you. On the other side of that, there are more distractions and nonsense than ever.
Now and going into the future, the leaders, visionaries, inventors, and entrepreneurs are the ones who can be the most creative without falling into the endless sea of noise, distractions, conspiracy theories, victimhood, and cat videos.
Creating something new and revolutionary comes from stillness and intuition.
Go within yourself and start being creative. You may find that you stumble upon something even better than cheese.
Peace,
Koby
